In the book “The Noticer”, author Andy Andrews is a 23-year-old young man who is homeless, living under a pier at the beach, and is mourning the loss of both of his parents.

He meets a wise old man named Jones. Andy and Jones are sitting in the sand eating sardines and Vienna sausages when Jones asks Andy “What are you eating?”. Andy replies, “The same as you are”.

But Jones persists with his questions: “What are you eating and where?”. Andy replies, “I’m eating sardines and sausages in the sand”. Jones said, “I thought so”. After a little more conversation, Jones says with a smirk, “you ate sardines and sausages in the sand. I dined on surf and turf with an ocean view”. He slapped Andy on the back. “It’s all about perspective”.

What about you? How do you view life? Are you eating sardines in the sand or dining on surf and turf? Too often, we are so focused on the grains of sand that get stuck between our butt cheeks that we never notice the ocean view.

So much of what we call life happens between our ears

Here are two men in the same environment, eating the same food, seeing the same sights, yet they are having two completely different experiences. All because of the perspective that they chose to have.

Which man do you think is happier? Which one do you think is more satisfied with life? Which one are YOU?

It is our choice. We get to choose our perspective. We get to determine how we are going to react to anything that life may throw at us.

Now I know that some of you just read this and you want to shout at me: “But you don’t know what I’m going through”. “But I can’t do this”. “But this” and “But that”. Well maybe you’re just choosing to focus on the grains of sand stuck between your butt cheeks and you’re missing out on the beauty of the beach.
It is our choice. We get to choose our perspective. We get to determine how we are going to react to anything that life may throw at us. Click To Tweet
Choose to see Life as grand. That Life is beautiful. That Life is wonderful, despite the problems and challenges that we all encounter. IT IS A CHOICE

I hope you choose to go with the surf and turf. Bon appetit my friends. Bon appetit.
